Biography
Adrian grew up in Petersfield, Hampshire, and from an early age his musical talent was apparent. He passed Grade 8 Trumpet at the age of 13, and was already writing songs and playing guitar in local bands when he achieved 2 A Levels in Music and Grade 8 Theory.
His formal musical education reached a conclusion in 1991 when he obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Music from Leeds College of Music. He then moved back to Petersfield and joined Winchester based band The Pridenjoys, a Rock band with Folk overtones. They played shows all around the UK and released a nationwide single before Adrian left to form his own band Blah Blah Blah in 1993.
Blah Blah Blah toured around the country for 4 years and played many shows, supporting such acts as Squeeze, Belinda Carlisle and Walter Trout.
In 1996, after recording two albums, the band were unable to secure a record deal and split up. However, some years later Adrian did secure a Publishing Deal in the UK and the USA with BMG, a deal which included some of the songs he had originally written for Blah Blah Blah.
It was in the early 1990’s that Adrian created Soundbyte Studios. Initially set up as a place for him to write and record songs for Blah Blah Blah he was soon being commissioned to write pieces of music for company promos and then TV advertisements and independent films.
In 1997 Adrian was invited to join Bjorn Again, playing the title role “Bjorn” in the world famous tribute band. Initially playing shows to United Nations troops in Bosnia, Ireland, the Falklands, Kosovo and Iraq, he went on to perform sell out tours in Europe, America, Canada, and the Far East. He also shared some of the biggest stages in the world with acts such as Bryan Adams, Metallica, Shania Twain, Status Quo, Kylie Minogue and Lionel Richie.
In 2001 Adrian secured publishing deals with AMG (America) and Hilltop (UK). Since then he has also played on many recording sessions with Sony, Sky TV & many Record Companies.
In 2003 world famous and award winning show producer Bernard Kurz temporarily prised Adrian away from Bjorn Again to play Bjorn in a musical tribute to Abba in Berlin, Germany. The show was a great success and still runs to this day.
In 2004 and with a young family in tow, Adrian decided to reduce his touring schedule and persue studio work more seriously, and the following 4 years saw him write music for Sky Sports, Living TV, Channel 4 and BBC2, as well as writing and producing songs for Record Companies and Management Companies.
Also in 2004 Adrian was asked to teach the guitar at The Petersfield School, the same school he had attended in the 80’s. He had taught since the early 90’s, having been the guitar teacher at Churchers College Petersfield, and The Royal School in Haselmere, but had to cut back the teaching when he joined Bjorn Again. After touring all over the world for nearly ten years he felt ready to settle down and share his experiences.
2005 – 06 Saw more commissioned writing in the studio, regular trips to America and Europe with Bjorn Again, and visits back to Berlin for the stage show.
2007 saw Adrian turn his attention to creating his own band “the live party band.com” , a five piece band who play corporate functions and weddings. Consisting of world class musicians and singers he met along the way, they play up to three hours of songs ranging from seventies disco to present day chart hits.
Also in 2007 Adrian was asked to perform shows with The Fabbagirls, another world famous tribute band. Although they regularly play alongside acts such as Bon Jovi and Queen and are considered among the best tribute bands in the world, their workload is much lighter than the touring schedules of Bjorn Again and the Berlin ABBA show, suiting Adrian’s lifestyle and other work commitments better.
2009 – 10 sees Adrian continue to work around the world with some of the most popular Abba tribute bands. He is still working in his studio, writing soundtracks for TV, Film and advertisements.
He continues to teach in school and at home.
Adrian is also currently performing with his band thelivepartyband.com at many corporate events and weddings in the UK.
